Frequently Asked Questions
The following is a collection of questions we've received enough to include in our FAQ. If you don't see what you're looking for here, don't hesitate to contact us!
How much will it cost?
The Solar Investment Tax Credit, or ITC, will knock off 30% of your system cost. Our cost structure allows you to pay for the system as you save on your electric bill. Our estimates for the average home put the final cost at around $8,400 after the tax credit is applied. This puts the average IRR at 13%!
If you decide financing this project through third party financing, your monthly payments will be lower than your original electricity bill, meaning your out-of-pocket is essentially zero. If you pay entirely out-of-pocket, you will see a return on your investment in 8 years or less. Plus, our systems carry lifetime warranties of 25 years!
How is property value affected?
Property value with Solar in Alaska will increase an average of $4/installed watt. Our average system size is 4.8 kW- this means home value will trypically increase by $19,200- making the net return versus install cost $7,700!
Property Value statistics can be found here from a US Dept. of Energy study:
How can I afford this?
The most common payment method is through third party financing. We work with several Alaskan banks and credit unions that offer reasonable terms and help guide our customers through this process. With a loan secured, and your solar system online, you will be paying less in loan payments than you were in electric bills.
How will installation work?
We will send a representative to do a quick evaluation of your home to determine the best design for your property. This usually takes less than 45 minutes. Then we will send out our installation crew, a vetted and insured group of professionals. Once our crew arrives on site, within 12 hours your home will be ready for clean energy production. But don't worry, installing is non-invasive and always much quieter than even mowing your lawn.
